A group of people sitting around each other.

Choosing those who DO over those who know

We all know people who seem to KNOW a lot. Whether they spend a lot of time watching the news, reading obscure articles, or on social media, they always seem to “know” a little bit about a lot. Whatever new adventure or season you’re getting into, they know the best way to get it done. Anything from starting your own business, to buying a home, to taking a trip out of the country – whatever it is they KNOW all about it.

The only thing is, they’ve never started the entrepreneur journey, have not considered buying a home themselves and have never left the city, let alone the country. They’ve never actually DONE any of the things they’re advising you on. Their specialty is actually sharing information they’ve gained from some random source with no real context. It never occurs to them to consider if the information would be helpful to you, their goal is to let you know, they know, something about what you’re preparing for. They want to be part of the conversation. Their goal has been met. They are satisfied feeling like an expert. feeling needed.

Then there are those who are hard to get ahold of. They aren’t quick to return calls, or your messages. However, when you do get the opportunity to catch up, they’re full of, not only what’s been going on, but what they have in the works. They are excited, happy to share AND encourage you in your endeavors.

When you ask for advice, they aren’t full of platitudes and affirmations, but tell you the truth about how hard it can get. In spite of all of this, they are happy. They are full of the wisdom they’ve gained and plans for the future. They freely acknowledge the stressors that come along with the path they’ve chosen and don’t regret it.

These are your true people. This is the crowd you want to be a part of. These are the ACTION TAKERS. The DOERS. The ACCOMPLISHERS. They know the most important thing there is to know – it doesn’t matter what you know. It matters what you DO.

The people you choose, choose your path. Choose WISELY.
